Casper, WY is bar none, the strictest security check point I have ever been through at an airport. the 4 employees that work the whole airport really take their job seriously...

How do these people keep their jobs?
The point of the TSA and all of the bulk airport screening isn't security. It's the appearance of security. Duh.

Left a box cutter in my bag once by accident- security did not catch it the first time. It was still in there on the return home and they caught it. Was so embarrassed about it, I told them to take it. Glad it did not escalate further than that.

Few weeks ago I got nailed in Wichita with a 3+ inch pocket knife in my backpack. Funny part was that I was on my way home. Made it through security in Houston with no issues.

The Wichita (security) line, man. They'll get you.
I got busted in Kasper, Wyoming for not having a small (legal size) bottle of lotion with the rest of my toiletries. I had gone through Hobby, Love, Denver, Salt Lake City, OKC, Tulsa, etc... with the bottle in a side pocket of my backpack and had zero issues. But in Kasper I was a dangerous terrorist for not following protocal.

The air is pretty dry up there - his skin probably needed moisturizing.

Yep - I borrowed my son's travel bag that he had last used for a camping trip. Didn't know my son left a hunting knife in the bag pocket... neither did the TSA.

He let me keep it. Just gave me the 3rd degree for not having it in the clear bag with the rest of my toothpaste, deodorant, etc...

My brother in law left a huge screw-driver in the pocket of his duffel bag on a flight to Bozeman. TSA never noticed it.

On the other hand, at the time, he was flying B-1s. If he really wanted to cause an air-related problem, he wouldn't have done it with a screw-driver.

I'll never forget after 9/11 when the started really serious with flight crews at security I had my tweezers taken away. I'd been flying for 20 years with those things in my bag. I didn't argue or complain really, but I did say to the TSA guy something like:

" Good catch. I'd hate for someone to break down the cockpit door, pick out my bag, spend 15 mins rifling through it, find my tweezers and then tweezer the crew to death."

What would he have done it with?

Remembered to pack it in my check in baggage.
(On my return flight)
Needed it for a demo for one of my products.

It's not just TSA. My dad gave me his suitcase about ten years ago and I never bothered to open the front pockets. I flew all over the world over a period of several years until security in Greece pulled my bag to the side and found a large knife out of the front pocket. Either it was planted by someone or it made it through security in Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Italy, Amsterdam, Germany, and a handful of other places before it was found.

I once left my toothpaste loose in my backpack, and not in the quart sized bag, and they didn't even say anything.

It really makes you think.
