Went to the Dixie Chicken last night with some friends for dinner. First time going. Burgers are pretty good and it was an awesome atmosphere to play pool. Felt pretty redass.

Was wondering if you Old Ags had any cool stories from there?

It may not be the best bar ever, but it's iconic. We're coming down for graduation and some non-Aggie friends are coming with us. The wife's two places she MUST visit are the Bush library and the Chicken.

If you expect it to be an iconic bar, it likely will be.
If you go in expecting to be a contrarian butthole, then it will likely suck.

One of my favorite places. T fries, pitcher of beer, good music, ice in the trough. How can you beat that?

Beer is about three times the price as it used to be, but still a great place.

It made it have a different atmosphere. Now they have bouncers too.

And you don't have to hope you are sober enough to walk back and forth between the chicken and bean.

Meh. There were plenty of places to go get liquor. Part of the charm of the chicken was drinking beer and making a run to the shot bar. I personally think it was unnecessary

Unfortunately it was necessary. Essentially it moved Alfred T.'s to Northgate.

The Dry Bean was an ice cream shop for most of the time I was there.

There was ZERO hard liquor on NG back then...

I went on the day before my 21st birthday at 11:50. Carded me and got denied for drinking...went and got a slice at the Flying Tomato and came back at 12:01. He gave me a complementary carding and then sent me in to get drunk(er).

I did this at Dry Bean. They weren't supposed to do it, but fortunately the bartender was a friend of my brother's and he got me ****faced.

Just to slightly correct Colin, we always had door guys, but didn't actually start checking id's at the door until we began serving liquor. And I remember that Ty Murray story too. RIP Schotzi.

I threw up behind the half wall that separates the pool tables from the front tables in the middle of a 42 game. Sooo drunk that day. Loved the place before they started selling liquor.
