Budapest will withdraw its bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics, leaving only Los Angeles and Paris in the race.

Hungarian government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs confirmed the withdrawal to the Associated Press on Wednesday. The joint decision by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Budapest Mayor Istvan Tarlos and the Hungarian Olympic Committee will be formally voted on by the Budapest City Assembly.

Fidesz, the governing party, said the decision was made to avoid "a loss of international prestige" for Hungary, saying the bid had a very small chance of success.

The bid was expected to face a citywide referendum promoted by a new political party, which gathered more than 266,000 signatures in favor of holding the vote.

The International Olympic Committee is scheduled to choose the 2024 host city in September.

Yes. It will be one of President Trump's first EOs following his reelection.

"Yes.

The Patriarchy created the letter 'C' as a constant reminder of womyn's servitude to men. 'C' is just a 'U' lying on its side. Notice that 'U' represents a cup, just as womyn represent the life-giving properties of mother Gaia.

The Patriarchy forced the life-giving 'U' onto its side to show that womyn should be lying down and making babies for them to use in The Patriarchy's military-industrial complex. We must ban the letter 'C' in order to empower womyn, the undocumented, and the trans-beautiful against the hateful white, cockman oppressors."

C'mon Paris! We don't need the debt (you really don't think LA and California will eat all the costs) and the French are ripe for an embarrassment.

Sad thing is that LA already has every venue necessary to hold the olympics except a whitewater course. And between UCLA and USC, they have at least two of most every facility needed. But do you think they will use those facilities or build new ones that will get used a couple times before being abandoned like every other olympic site?

That or UCLA and USC will get some great new facilities at the taxpayers expense.

I believe LA's bid is to use as many existing venues as possible but I still hope they lose.

Yeah, let's not hold it in the Muslim occupied territories of Paris.

On that note why does it have to be one city? Why can't the whole country host the olympics? Have the different events in different cities. Have track and field at Kyle, have whitewater rafting in Georgia, have archery in Seattle then traffic with be better, and the whole nation profits.

the logistics do not work well. too many moving parts instead of one set of localized moving parts.

it just needs to be set in 1 place:
1. Greece for the summer
2. XX for winter.

And be done with it.

All money can be invested in infrastructure to maintain and improve it.
Infrastructure can be built to support the crowds.

And stop blackmailing local governments. Let corporate sponsors pay for all the sht.

Have the summer games every time in Las Vegas. Theyd have to build whatever venues are needed obviously, but the hotels, airport, hooker population, etc are all already in place and ready to go. Schedule it all in May so the weather's good.

The London games seemed to be pretty successful, and it seems like the Tokyo games will be good. Just alternate back and forth between London and Tokyo; throw in Greece when the roman numeral is a multiple of five.

NBC. All of the big events could be held live during prime time.
