Actually now that I think about it, what Macys did was give us cash back on all registry purchases, 20%, after it was closed out. So we created it, and added several expensive things we wanted, but we just bought them before giving out registry info to any one, so they disappeared off the list.
Then we handed out registry info, and whatever was left over at the end, we purchased it.
That way, we got 20% kick back for all things on the registry, and we didn't have to worry about people seeing expensive items and what they would think.
It would be silly to not get 20% back because you don't want an expensive item on your registry.. who cares, especially if you can make it go away before anyone even sees it.
