Hollywood has been doing this since its inception. While not a remake, the 1983 Brian DePalma film was certainly a reimaging of a 1930's film of the same name and retained many of the same themes from the original. Maybe I would be more upset if I actually liked Scareface. IMO it only had two things going for it, a handful of memorable lines and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Disagree. Thought Pfeiffer wasn't all that great. Didn't seem like a great fit casting wise to me.
