The truth is really the opposite of this.

Women don't want "nice guys" becuase they are tired of "jerks" they get older and either 1)realize that aren't attractive enough to complete with the other women and/or 2)they are able to judge potential mates by their actual accomplishments and not just by their potential.
So they settle for a "nice guy"

Oh and let's be honest the only things "jerks" and "nice guys" really mean are "guys that can get laid" and "guys like you"

Insecure girls prefer jerks. They put so much value into what other people think of them that if someone treats them like garbage then they want to obsess over it. They try so hard to get the guy that is a jerk to like them that it turns into infatuation and an unhealthy relationship if they do end up together. The nice guy...while he may even be good looking and sweet, has already made his feelings obvious and there is no victory in achieving this guy's affection. It's basically the Insecure girls version of "the chase" or "hard to get."

I would like a nice guy but every guy says he's a nice guy. Most will be on best behavior up front. Usually you don't realize he's a jerk until you get a ways into the relationship. Seems unfair to pin it on the ladies to pick jerks when sometimes you think you are choosing a nice guy.

Girls have to learn the hard way. Many like jerks till bad happens then they wise up.

Whether it's getting married having kids ect it's a race. Status in HS. Wanting the next best thing. Security-acceptance. Many times it's about what others think. Pretty insane creatures.

Thanks, Pam. Just a girl who has been learning the hard way. Post divorce dating in your 30's is depressing. Especially in an area as small as B/CS. Love the idea of getting a review system on guys. The app dating thing is ridiculous. Picking a guy off a picture and a few facts that may, or may not, be accurate makes it difficult to get excited about it.

Would love to see the number of jerks versus nice guys each of the GB ladies have been in relationships with.

As for me, I dated many a skank, and a few nice girls. I married a nice girl.

I've been married for 27 years so I can't be sure about how things may have changed, but from what I've seen, it appears that women prefer confidence. To many men, the confidence of other men comes off as him being a jerk. There is some truth there because a young, confident man will often be a jerk without realizing it.

It takes some additional maturity I believe to be both confident and kind. That's real confidence. When you know that you don't have to put down someone else in order to show your own value.

Of course, I may also be full of sh_t. I was the "nice guy" who was always on the "friend" ladder. I had to decide to be bold and confident or I figured I'd be alone the rest of my life. I think it worked.

That was me in HS and college. I've had 4 different girls flat out tell me "you're such a nice guy. Why didn't we ever try it?" I always told them that I tried, but was respectful of them and wasn't as direct as the guys they liked. After college, I said "eff it" and became that direct guy. Had a lot more fun, but was a nice guy to my wife when we met, and we just hit it off.
