Caitlin Lowe was my favorite softball player while I was in college. I would seek out Arizona softball games to watch. Was also able to meet a few of the A&M softball players through a friend that I had on the team at that time.

They hit so many homers on those tiny fields that speed is not an issue running bases. I am guessing being taller means bigger hands to grip the ball when pitching, and being overweight for the pitchers gives them more stability for that wild armswinging underhand throwing.

The position players tend to be fitter and faster.

Fwiw, in MLB there are some real fatty porker dudes playing.
