He wrote it when he got out of prison and also how everyone was protesting the war and not respecting freedom.
When my dad came back from Vietnam, he would sing it with words that they'd written about being over there.
Years later, my mom was listening to it on the radio and said "those aren't the right words.."

He was sick but still played and sounded great!

Always likes Merle's music. This song was about a dangerous place I used to go to with friends to swim & whitewater raft. Back in the day his ex-wife Bonnie Owens (Buck's first) lived down the street.
