Scratching sound in wall?

We hear an annoying scratching sound of a critter in our wall at night. It's the same spot in the wall the last 3 nights from about 9:30-5:00. It's on the 3rd floor (including basement) and is driving us crazy.

Pest control came out and said no evidence of mice so not their problem...I think the guy was an idiot. Any idea what it could be?

Next issue is finding out where they come in at. If you seal up the spot and notice a bad odor later on, at least you know it's dead.

Definitely mouse, rat, or squirrels.

It took a pest company 6 times to come out and finally found where they were getting in. Only paid for 1 visit because it took them so damn long.

Had 7 rats caught, and 2 squirrels that were in the walls and in between the floors of our 2 story house

1. Cut a rat sized hole in the wall.
2. Put a plate of food in the middle of the room.
3. Set a series of obstacles and traps all over the place. (At least 12)
4. Tie a basket over the food that falls when the rat gets to the plate.
5. You win!!.... And your kid has a pet!
