My guess is that he and the other dogs were attempting to bind Fenrir. As Fenrir had easily broken all other chains put upon him, the dogs entreated the dwarves to forge the magical chain Gleipnir capable of holding the great wolf. Fenrir, ever mistrustful of the dogs, agreed to be bound by Gleipnir only if one of the dogs agreed to put his paw in Fenrir's mouth. Quanah's dog, ever a champion of justice and of dogs, agreed to risk his paw in Fenrir's mouth. Once bound, Fenrir was unable to break the magical Gleipnir and bit off the paw of Quanah's dog in his rage.

That's just the story I heard, though.

Wow that cartoon is really tough. I've lost 2 dogs in 3 months and wasn't expecting something like that on this thread. Ouch.

That sucks man. Sorry to hear that. That is a very sad cartoon. 2 of my 4 dogs are pretty long in the tooth and I'm not looking forward to those days at all. Dogs truly are man's best friend.

Oops, WTH?

My son called me this morning and told me his dog died. He found him as a stray 13 years ago. He was a great dog and went on a lot of adventures with my son. I sent him that cartoon that somebody posted a little bit upthread. Very appropriate for those two.
