You shouldn't get a ring for anything other than an undergraduate degree from the college station campus with a minimum of 6 full semesters of classes.

Screw the transfer students, screw the grad students, screw those people that went to another campus......including Galveston

This is about the stupidest ****ing thing I have ever read on this site.

There's gonna be a whole bunch of browns with Aggie rings soon, thanks to Texas A&M - McAllen.

I was a transfer into Texas A&M and also one of the most redass people I know. I have no issue with transfers to main campus geting a ring. I also appreciate the value of not only the ring but of being an Aggie. Being an Aggie is a role I take very seriously as it is more permanent a role than being just about anything else.

The point I was making is someone calling themselves an Aggie just because they graduated from a school ten years before said school was acquired by Texas A&M. Mother****er even has it on his bio.

I graduated from TAMU undergrad. Then I went to Tex Wes Law. they sent me some stupid certificate on printer paper saying "this certifies that the named person went to Tex Wes which is now TAMU. I wrote in big red marker "no thanks" and returned it.

I really don't care. Where I went to law school is immaterial in my life. All that matters is the law license. The only time I have been asked by a client where I went to school was a lunch or socializing. It makes no difference to me.

However, there are some people that this deal has hurt. Grads from the last year it was Tex Wes and people in big law.

According to them and the lawsuit against the schools, TAMU has systematically attempted to scrub tex Wes law from the web. They have also claimed all of our bar passage rates and pro bono hours as those of TAMU, which they are not.

I don't know where the lawsuit will go, but I don't want a TAMU law diploma or another Aggie ring. But it has been pretty ****ty the way TAMU has treated the alumni.

I transferred away from a&m after my freshman year. I went nearly deaf while living in a barn at a gun range after figuring out that shooting guns all day every day was a better use of my time than impressing my art school professors with how much better I was than them. Then i became a welder and floated around the southern u.s. for a while until i came back to a&m and finished.

You're falling behind. You can now get an undergraduate degree from A&M totally online and qualify for an Aggie ring without ever stepping foot in the state of Texas.

I'm doing an online master's program through A&M. Total of 30 hours, literally required to only spend about 14 days on campus, and you qualify to get an Aggie Ring.

The idea of "being an Aggie" has to do with having shared experiences with other Aggies. The whole idea of the Aggie Ring is that you can walk up to a stranger wearing that ring and you have common ground that you could hypothetically discuss over a beer or something. There are more and more people now who can get the Ring that I would have literally zero common ground with aside from the name on the school on the diploma.

The truth is that the people in charge see the Aggie Ring as a branding tool and their idea is that the more people that wear it, the better. Historically, that is not what the Aggie Ring has been about.

Yes. You get it.

I thought the Aggie Ring was about always having a bottle opener with me.

Personally, if you attended, but never graduated, TAMU, you shouldn't be considered an Aggie. If what took you away was noble or noteworthy, celebrate that.

There are all kinds of Aggies. What makes us all Aggies is our love for the university and the Aggie family.
