I do love big bend. Buddy is on a lease on 100k acres outside of presidio directly next to big bend national park. We just go out and get lost and cross over into BBNP at ease

When I was 14 I got lost while hiking and I was alone. Started out as a small hike just from our hotel there in the park. Hours later and a 911 call I was found in a tree. That's the very short of it all. It was one crazy night.

Ive been twice and wanna go back. It's beautiful

This temperature was taken six feet above the ground. Six inches above the ground it was pegged at 141F.
Those days sucked the most ass possible. that being said anything above 100 is unpleasant. And I am a desert rat born and bred. Of my 29 years I have lived 24 of them in deserts where 100+ is extremely common. Since living here though I have been spoiled. 4 years ago I would not have blinked at your temperature. These days, though not afraid to work in those temps, I would much rather spend my time inside AC and ice cold sweet tea. 130+ degrees is terrible. So is 100+ degrees. It all sucks.

Iraq, Afghanistan or Kuwait?

Kuwait felt the hottest but the hottest I witnessed was in Iraq and it was in the high 120s

This was Afghanistan. Iraq commonly reached past 120 as well but we were in an area called Zaidon right next to the Euphrates in rural farmland so it never seemed as bad. The hottest I can remember in Afghanistan was 142F during a foot patrol. We actually got called to stop and hole up in any shade possible till it dropped below 140. We thought that was weird since command never cared about the conditions till got back and heard a couple of dudes in another company not that far away almost died from heat exhaustion. Since that looks bad we got told to stop for a bit.

Nah. Mount Hood was awesome. The sun was out..snow on the mountain...it was pretty fantastic.
