About 2-3 months is where I usually land. I don't remember the exact time line, but I think with me and the wifey it was about 2 months.

Agree with bigtatum. If it takes at least half a dozen dates, then the "he/she's just not that into you" boundary has been crossed.

With my fiance, we were functionally in an exclusive relationship after the first 5 dates for sure (first two weeks of relationship). But it was never formally discussed, and it was like a month or so later when, right after doing the sex, she asked "So, am I your girlfriend or what?" That's when it became officially official I guess.

I drunkenly asked him at a Jason's deli over free ice cream if we were exclusive about 2 months in. Not sure if that's how it's supposed to be done, but I figure ice cream makes everything better

Dating can be fun. When you're exclusive you're still dating that person. You are still not obligated to buy the car.

If you're juggling several guys after having gone out on several dates and you don't like one enough to be exclusive then you're not dating. You're ****ing around and that's fine.

Almost exactly this. I'm trying to figure myself out now. Granted coming out of a divorce is a bit different than being single for an extended period of time. Im not saying something couldn't get serious but I'm not ready to lock anything down anytime soon. Why can't people just relax and take things a day at a time?

I am confident that neither party is actively (or passively) seeking other suitors, however I think there's a middle ground between 5-6 dates and defining exclusivity. The latter sounds so..serious..

He is not good enough for you. Which makes him perfect for you for the next few weeks.

Bang him the first night you meet him, but not until you get drunk and he pees his last name on your fence.
