Now the idiots in ferguson are back at it. They would find looting, arson and robbery a whole lot less appealing if those caught in the act were shot.

It's easy to loot and blame others when you don't work for anything.

You're right, there seems to be one of these every week. I wish attention by the media on these kinds of things would just go away.

To be fair, Fox news was reporting (last night) that the deceased 1) made eye contact with a police officer and then 2) ran. Neither is illegal and the arrest of this person was likely illegal.

So I think if a person is illegally arrested and then dies from injuries sustained while in police custody, people have a legitimate complaint.

That being said, there is no excuse for the behavior I'm seeing in tv.

I don't care if the police are arresting Jeffrey Dahmer mid-meal, they have a responsibility for getting him to the station alive and unharmed if at all possible.

Running from police is probable cause to arrest, this was a supreme court case.

He wasn't running from cops who were addressing him or who were in pursuit. They decided to pursue him because he 1) made eye contact and 2) started running.

I think we all realize now that this has moved on past Freddie. Freddie was a catalyst, nothing more.

Poor Freddy had been arrested 18 times before the age of 25, what a legacy.

Racial profiling does exist. Police abuse does exist. There are also a lot of dumbasses in the world who fail to follow orders or just simply cooperate.

No one is blaming them for their anger or frustration, but everyone should be blaming them for their baseless, destructive, chaotic, racially motivated, violent action though.

Yes, this is correct. The police violated many policies and procedures that day resulting in the death of Freddie Gray. Allegedly, Freddie made eye contact with BPD and then took off running. While this is not illegal, it may rise to the low standard of reasonable suspicion warranting the police to give chase. As an aside, we all know that running from the police is never a good idea (whether your guilty or not). Both the police (driving erratically with an unrestrained person in custody) and Freddie (running from the cops and resisting arrest) used poor judgment that day. While I'm not condoning the actions taken by the police, however, their level of frustration, given the adrenaline, is understandable but not justifiable. That's where policies and procedure should have taken over, whereby the police should have simply charged him with a crime, read him his rights (if under investigation), placed him in custody, and driven him safely to the station without the rest of the drama.

This situation highlights the brutality and poor judgment that citizens face with irrational police. Whether you're white, asian, hispanic, or black, it's hard to ease tensions with police after you've created a mess for yourself such as this. The thing I don't understand is why are the residents of Baltimore destroying their own city? Baltimore is 63% black, the mayor is black, and the majority of city officials are black. So if Baltimoreans are unhappy with the "white" police, then they should vote in representatives that actually effectuate change rather than perpetuate the problem. This entire situation is illogical, and order needs to be restored before any change can occur.

I feel sorry for the family of Freddie Gray and the residents that are caught up in the middle of this that are trying to peacefully highlight the problem. It's the knuckleheads looting stores and rioting that are reversing all the positive discussion and they should all be prosecuted.

TL;dr = police should use better judgment and Baltimoreans need to elect representatives that effectuate positive change in the community, which reflects the sentiment of the people they serve.

No I am not putting myself in their place.

I watched parts of my state crumble because loser *******s wanted to riot when they didn't get their way.

Millions of dollars in damage. Livelihoods and homes destroyed. People injured.

All because these criminal thugs look for excuses now to riot and loot.

The police the need to be investigated and severely punished if it found what they did in Baltimore was criminal.

That doesn't justify the actions of those who refuse to work, take responsibility, or be decent people in what they are doing now. They are only making people less sympathetic to plight of the urban, black male when they react like this. It isn't normal for most people to pull a white man out of his liquor store and beat him half to death because the cops haven't been thrown in jail yet.

Not all the people in Baltimore wants to steal and destroy, but those that do probably don't have faith in the police anymore. It seems as if BPD lost touch with their populous through corruption and generally being untrustworthy. I'm not saying ALL BPD police officers are corrupt and untrustworthy, but a few bad seeds over the past few decades has created a mess. I am by no means condoning the rioting/looting/sundry criminal activity, I am saying that once the police get this situation under control they need to do some spring cleaning and restore faith under their ranks again (much like the NYPD did under Giuliani).

No way there isn't video if he's in a police van. And since the officers will be in a legal mess it won't be made public any time soon and it shouldn't be.
