The original sentence is wrong. Someone did it again 1 or 2 pages ago, they said 'The princess and I'.
Remember the old rule; take out the other person and see if it makes sense.
You wouldn't say, 'I being silly.', and you certainty wouldn't ever have a picture of you and label it 'I". It's 'the wife and me being silly.' or "The princess and me.' If you said it how you did verbatim, and that would be fine, too, but that's not the case here.
