I don't have a window cube. That's just lighting from the monitors. I used to think I was important, but when I went to rehab for 3 months I learned everybody is replaceable in the workplace.

If they promote you then they would have to replace you in your current role. If they can't do that then they probably won't promote you.

My wife's operation gives people title and salary promotions with no discrete difference in responsibility. The roles evolve gradually from doing the actual work on projects to managing and getting new business.
