I filled up my gas tank in Cheyenne one time
Wanted to go to Cheyenne this summer but couldn't make it work. I will though. My parents were married at the Air Force Base in 1951 and I want to see the place.
Things were so different then. My Mom was from a very close family. But she took trains and buses by herself from the Rio Grande Valley to Cheyenne and was married the day after arriving. Groomsmen were airmen stationed there with Dad and bridesmaids were wives of those airmen.
We have the telegram my father sent his new in-laws in Raymondville promising he will forever take care of their beautiful daughter, and that he was the luckiest man in the world. And he did take care of her every day of her life, including eight years of cancer, the last one where he alone provided hospice.
We have pictures of the chapel and we think it is still there. I'd like to see it.

We went last year when we were in Laramie. Cheyenne was okay. Found a cool little quilt shop to spend lots of money in.
I'll be in the Can (Corsicana) this weekend.
That's cool! my aunt and uncle lived up there for a long time before they moved to Frisco within the last 2 years. My uncle passed away a few months ago, so they're having a sort of memorial service at the church he started.

My relatives who I actually like will be there (most of dad's side lives there) so it won't be too bad.

Oh I love my relatives that live there (actually outside of Corsicana in Blooming Grove, if you know where that hole in the wall is). The town still sucks balls though.
