You can keep your milk on long camping trips by storing it in a water tight bag and keeping in the river.

Yeah 4 days. My brother is really nervous. We had a friend on a climb earlier this year that the guides turned around on the Ingraham Flats because they said he looked like he was struggling with the first portion of the climb in some windy conditions. Flat out turned him around. He said he felt fine and nothing out of the ordinary.

My brother is up there working north of Seattle and hiking every weekend, but has never been high cardio and he definitely doesn't want to get turned around. Hell, my training hasn't gone smoothly either. Had an IT band issue that doesn't want to subside although I can tough it out. I think he's more worried about being forced to turn around based on how he looks rather than how he feels his body is doing

Eh, it isn't that bad. RMI grinds you more than other guide services, but they're consistent. Three things they look for are minding the terrain, minding the pace, and minding yourself. So as long as you can keep pace without tripping all over everything, you're fine. Then, on breaks, sit down, pop on the jacket, eat some snacks, drink some water, and you're golden. When I climbed Rainier a few years ago, we had 16 outta 17 make it with RMI, and the only guy that turned around wasn't in great shape and made the choice himself.

By and large, the guides will be pretty fair. It's tiring staying hyper attentive to your footing all the time, but you really need to in the tricky areas. Hopefully, the Cathedral Rocks and DC will both be covered in snow, which'll make your life a helluva lot easier than if the snow is melted.

What John said. The only time I've done it with a guide I got turned around because the guides were pretty ****ish. Instead of just culling the couple people they didn't think could make it, they rushed us all of the mountain. Ended up with a guy falling on top of the Inner Glacier and breaking his leg in three places. Ended up being a rescue mission. Second worst climbing experience of my life.

But really, don't sweat it. Best advice I can give you is to treat it like a marathon. Eat a little bit every 30-45 min to keep your energy up, and drink plenty of water. Have fun!

I'm excitedly nervous more than anything. We'll be in the park a couple days hiking around before we start the trip and hopefully getting some minor acclimatization out of the way. Just want to be back in the mountains.
