Another indicator, BBA, is if they are wearing ribbons and medals. It's one or the other.

Thanks bootstrap

And there shouldn't be medals or ribbons on a camo uniform (there are some occasional pins, but those are different)

If you look at the pics, a lot of the medals and ribbons aren't neatly arranged - they should be in lines (There are regs about arrangement and spacing). Also, I think there is a limit (3?) To the number of rows you are supposed to wear. Young guys generally won't have a ****load like some pictured are trying to pass off as theirs.

Really digging that haircut.

And the tie canted off to the side. He is so badass with all those medals and badges that grooming and uniform standards dont apply to him.

fakewarriors.org/ is some interesting reading. As is the P.O.W.Network and esp. Guardianofvalor.com. Lots of information on military awards and pics of dirtbags in their "uinforms" how they were caught and outed, etc.

I believe the picture of the guy in the air force uniform was taken after he was confronted by a couple of real veterans who "persuaded" him to turn over the jacket w/awards.

He probably thought they were on the "right" side when he was looking in the mirror. Beats me... and that "Air force" dude has more ribbons than Audie Murphy.

I've been in this guy's presence twice while he was in "uniform."

It was totally ridiculous, and one of those two times he was wearing the Army dress jacket with a kilt. He was arrested and charged, but he's dead now.

I don't know. He was getting ridden pretty hard by local media and the feds. Maybe he offed himself.

Yes.

So you knew he was a fraud then? Did you just ignore him or did you confront him?

Both times it was in a room full of people, so I just laughed it off and talked **** about him. No point in making a scene in public.

Right, makes sense.

I just don't get why people outright lie about things like this. It blows my mind. Like the US doesn't have hundreds of thousands of actual veterans that wont take notice... Dude probably has a better chance of walking around telling people he invented sticky notes.

I was one of those for a year. And damn proud if it.

I was a 4 yr E3 and am damn proud of my 4yrs. It was the first time I actually finished something and set me straight. I'd probably be a s***bag like no other still if I wasn't talked into going with a buddy.

Okay i guess ill start with this. What does the air force infantry and assault badge mean

Those are army badges.

Thank you. I now know what two of the badges mean. If anyone would like to explain further i wpuld greatly appreciate it

Basically it's looking at their uniform and knowing that they didn't serve because stuff doesn't match up. For example, the two badges you just asked about are badges for members of the Army, but he's wearing an Air Force uniform. Another example - the pic I quoted. The guy is wearing a Marine uniform, but he is also wearing the Navy SEAL Trident badge. Marines cannot be Navy SEALs, because they're not in the Navy. Therefore, you know this guy is a fraud.

Make sense?

You're wrong. You have not thought about prior service members who have changed services.

A service member does not have to be in the Army to wear Air Assault or an Infantry Badge.
A member may have earned those awards while serving in the Army and then later changed services. Those awards may be worn on the service and mess dress and battle dress uniform. Same with the parachutist badge.

Also, an Airman may have never served with the Army however attended Air Assault School and was awarded the Air Assault Badge. This is common especially with TAC-P assigned to the 101st Airborne Division who is basically Air Assault. Numerous other Air Force operators have attended and earned Air Assault Badges and even ROTC and AFA Cadets are selected in small numbers to attend Air Assault and upon completion are awarded the Air Assault badge.

There are a hundred other examples ... to include service members receiving other services achievement and commendation medals, etc ...
