Found a dog in my front yard in College Station around midnight of the first freeze in 2005. It was a few days before my last football game.

I took her in, searched for an owner for a few days. After no one claimed her, I kept her as my own and named her Lenny.

I don't know who Buttercup is, but I love telling the story of how Lenny found me.

Here is the night I found her before I got her cleaned up:

Here she is swimming on my shoulder in Canyon Lake:

And here she is still sleeping by my side at her new home when I visited my parents last weekend:

Named after a song that was named after the guitar it was written on that was named after the woman who gave the man that guitar.

I feel like an i'jit for having grown up in Houston in the '80's and never seeing him live. And I look back at how much he toured and played (don't know how he ever found the time to record studio albums) and realize that you had to practically go out of your way to avoid seeing him. I vividly remember the time I came closest...would have been the free concert on S. Padre for Spring Break of '87. We headed down and got into the traffic back-up all the way back in Port Isabel and I got out-voted by all my Hair Band buddies. We turned around before getting on the causeway. To this day, still the only time I ever shed a tear upon hearing of the death of someone I didn't know.

Same here, snow. He played Lubbock countless times, but i didn't really understand what I was missing until it was too late.
