Saw him at the Q102 free concert with Fabulous T-Birds back in like '87 at old Reunion Arena. He was the "surprise guest" and played with his bro Jimmy Vaughn. Glad I got that moment.

Saw him in Mannheim, Germany. last concert he played before checking into rehab. The man was flying high and just plain killing it that night. I'll never forget it!

TowerAg90, is it possible that was at the Tarrant County Convention Center? I know I saw a free show there with the T-Birds about that time, but it may or may not not have been 1987.

I digitized all of my SRV VHS tapes a few years back. They're uploaded to http://tamusquash.com/SRV/ if any of you want to watch. You'll need the free DivX player from divx.com to watch these.

I have both Austin City Limits appearances, live at the El Mocambo, and the 1985 Montreaux Jazz Festival.

I never saw him in person. He died something like 32 hours before my first class at A&M.

Oh, and the 1982 Montreaux Jazz Festival is my favorite of the popular shows. He's unsigned and unknown (by this crowd) and is getting booed, loudly. He could have backed off, but he just gets more intense. He's just absolutely ferocious at this show. It's the performance that caught David Bowie's eye and ultimately got the guys signed.

This performance also spawned him his first Grammy. The breadth of the 1985 performance was greater, but I much prefer watching the 1982 concert to see him continue ripping on in the face of boos.
