If you can't appreciate Mrs. Doubtfire or Genie from Aladdin you're the type of soulless, dead-behind-the-eyes individual dogs randomly snarl at for no reason and sliding glass doors fail to open for.

I don't see how it would be possible to sit through Aladdin for the first time - regardless of your age - and not audibly laugh out loud multiple times at the Genie.

One of my favorite comedians. I can literally sit and laugh the entire way through his Live on Broadway show from 2002. Absolutely crushed by this.

Crazy because his show "The crazy ones" touched a lot on his alcoholism and addiction as well as sobriety.

I'll always remember him as Mork on Mork and Mindy.

O Captain! My Captain!
BY WALT WHITMAN

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
The arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

Nah, GMV wasn't bad, but he's just not funny. Lowest common denominator humor.

To bad. I never did like his type of comedy, and found his best work to be the roles you would not expect him to be in, such as "What Dreams May Come" and "24-Hour Photo".

I like that movie, besides Mork and Mindy, Good Morning Vietnam I never cared for his work.

His manic style made me uncomfortable sometimes, but the mental/associative gymnastic leaps he made were amazing. Clearly had synapses wired a little bit differently. He grew up mimicking Jonathan Winters and that's the best comparison that can be made - he obviously knew and respected the creative debt he owed JW and often brought him back into the spotlight long after his "first career" was pretty much over. I respect that about him.

His acting (comedic and dramatic) was very good - way beyond what one might expect from Mork from Ork. I think working within a script did a good job of focusing his talent. His version of Popeye kicked ass... the mumbling and delivery was so true to the original Popeye comics, it bears special note.

So sad to see his demons get the best of him, and troubling to think the "fun" or funny guy you know or work with may actually be suffering horribly inside.

Hate to see such talent implode on itself. I remember the first time we saw him on a comedy special...dressed in a Hawaiian shirt walking around thru the audience doing what seemed to be improv. Picked up a candle to do the Shakespeake scene with poor Yurik...then quickly made like he was going to "suck wax". Rest in peace...you brought smiles to so many...if only the world could have returned the favor to you.

Live at the Met is one of the funniest things ever recorded.

I'm pretty sure the show with him in the Hawaiian shirt was one of Rodney Dangerfield's young comedians specials. Those have some genius moments, too.

Robin Williams picked up where Bob Hope left off at the USO. His mantra always seemed to be "F*** it! You need to laugh!" He was so over the top in an amazing way because no matter how manic and off the rails he seemed to get, he was always going somewhere with it.

His Live on Broadway special was one of those things where his work for the USO allowed him to show an entire nation it was okay to laugh again after 9/11. It was something really special.
