How long did it take you to recover?

TF did it the other night, and the x-rays showed no breaks or dislocation. It looks gruesome - sort of like this -



But with a woman's hand involved, and much more swollen/black and blue.

You're doing the shocker wrong.

and that's why thumb's are opposable, folks.

I have sprained both thumbs. They swelled up and my palms bruised. Try not to use it or hit it on anything and it'll probably heal.

Silver lining: learning to fap left-handed.

The only solution is amputation.

I have jammed a thumb several times in softball. Prolly not the same, but the swelling and such took a few days. Bummer.

Probably about ten days, you will notice a lot of improvement after the first 72 hours.

Mine took about 3 months to heal completely after it got blown back off the steering wheel in a car accident where the airbag deployed. I wore a brace, but was forced to use it quite a bit due to my job at the time.

Must've been hard to give handies on the street corner with a brace on. Probably cut your efficiency in half at least.

Follow up X-ray yesterday showed a closed fracture of the metacarpal in the thumb. ER missed it. MRI today. Good thing we're not in Canada or she'd be waiting a few days.

I assume "closed fracture" means simple, with nothing out of place.

Closed just means its not jutting out of the skin all Hollywood style and ****.

I have bad news, possibly. I had a severe sprain once, as in the end of my thumb bent down so far it was touching my arm. It took about 3-4 weeks before I could reliably hold a glass, another month before I could write normally or open a jar without the thumb failing, and about 6 months before it was back to normal strength and function. I didn't get complete recovery of full range of motion for almost a year.

Yep, did the same thing to my thumb over a year ago at the river. Bent all the way back to my forearm. Similar recovery experience too. It still aches from time to time, and it looks different than my other thumb (first joint juts out much further).

Don't apply heat!!!
