Glad to see Economics up so high. I formally apologize to all Econ majors for dragging that score down...

Econ is tied for 4th at 128 average IQ, and it has 29% women.

Fairly strong corollation, but the odd part is that it probably isn't a matter of intelligence, but rather convenience in most cases. The lower IQ jobs are more common, require less specialized education, and can be moved into and out of easier. That convenience will tend to rate higher with more female workers. They tend also to focus on the female strength of social interaction, instead of the male strength of spatial conceptualization and reasoning.

I'd be cautious inferring any significant meaning to the graph without a look at the raw data and confidence levels.

Also, 136 here, but I was "only" an ID major.

well, I guess the only consolation I get for Engineering classes being a sausage fest is that it's a really smart sausage fest....

It's more that women and men are equally intelligent, but the smartest guys gravitate toward the hardest majors, the dumb guys go to the easy ones, and all women gravitate toward the easy ones.

I would say that IQ tests are generally very good at measuring specific types of knowledge that often line up extremely well with mathematics related careers and majors. A humanities major may not match up well on a traditional scale while scoring extremely high on measures of critical thinking. In short, whether you like black-and-white thinking or spectrum-type thinking will influence what major you choose and may reflect how you score on a standard IQ test.

Side notes,
Anything above about 115 tends to be more associated with social functioning problems and the return on increased lifetime salary starts to be outweighed by serious life functioning problems quickly. Im looking at you hard science majors.

Other random note,
Men tend to be more extreme outliers on IQ than women. There are more really really smart ones, but also more mentally retarded ones.
