This website just released up to date satellite images of where they believed the flight disappeared. They are asking viewers to tag anything they see on the images that they think is suspicious in efforts to maximize the search efforts. You can tag oil spills, wreckage you see, or anything else that looks odd all in an effort to help find the crash site.

Can't pull it up on mobile but I'm sure the resolution has been intentionally downgraded to make it where, as you said, only large wreckage could be seen.

Dumb. They are going to end up with 1,295,927 tags of waves in the ocean and never go investigate them.
