This is not a liberal post. Go to the cooking board for that.

So back to nice cars. For being $100K cars, there surely are a lot of Mercedes S550s driving around. Maybe it is just confirmation bias, but I see more of these than BMW 7 series or the Cadillac and Lincoln equivalent.

This is the car I am talking about

Executive leases, bro. I know a few people that have them rolled into their comp packages to pay with tax free monies.

Two things:

1) Like someone mentioned, many of them are leased
2) They depreciate like a falling rock. You can find a 2 year old S550 for $60K, which is affordable for a lot of people

The real ballers have the S600.

That's true, I didn't think of company provided leases and used car values.

When I went to NY I was amazed at how many Lincoln Towncars there were.

a lot of those towncars are less than 3 years old. I was shocked lincoln still made those POSs

The Lincoln town car is the gold standard for being chauffeured. The back seat is very comfortable with a lot of leg room in the long wheel base. I request these over Escalades, which have crap leg room and a rough ride.

They say 3 percent of the people use 5 to 6 percent of their brain
97 percent use 3 percent and the rest goes down the drain
I'll never know which one I am but I'll bet you my last dime
99 percent think we're 3 percent 100 percent of the time

The towncar/crown vic platform is an engineering marvel. It's being phased out this year or last year after an absolutely incredible run. It's a total workhorse vehicle with a very comfy interior and smooth ride.

And get 1ags to show you his merc marauders before you go calling them ugly.

Bought a $100k mercedes for $32k after 6 years of depreciation. Definitely glad I didn't own it the first 6 years.

I would consider an S600 if it weren't so damn big.

Why not get a 3 year old one for $50K? After 6 years, its no longer really a modern car where you can expect good reliability.

Years 0-6 are the best ownership years for a German car.

At that price point, I'm looking at a Model S.

Wait wait wait....

It's a $100,000 "engineered like no other car in the world" automobile.

I fear there will be issues for early adopters...there are an awful lot of electronic gizmos that can break.

Plus it would make driving to Houston, Austin, SA, or Midland a bit of a PITA from Dallas.
