Scot, if I donate, can I specifically exclude some of the things from your list?

Heh, sorry, but no. With very few exceptions (such as the scholarships specifically for purchase of an Aggie Ring), all donations through us are non-directed.

Seriously, though, not everything these donations support is meant to appeal to and benefit everyone on campus or in the Aggie Network. For example, if you aren't a lawyer or future lawyer, the Texas Aggie Bar Association probably doesn't seem very relevant. But if you are, it makes lots of sense.

It would be pretty unusual to find any student who went through 4+ years at TAMU and was never touched in any way whatsoever by the generosity of the Aggie Network.

And speaking only for myself, as an Aggie and a donor:

If The Association's only job was to continue to ensure that the Muster tradition stays alive and thriving ... well, that's worth a hundred bucks to me all by itself.

Last time I checked you graduate in either 3,4 or 5 years from college.. has been that way and will be that way.. Don understand their comment that the average age of its former students is getting younger unless they have found the fountain of youth

Wow. I sincerely hope hat as our former students' average age goes down, their basic reasoning and math skills are going up.

First thought was "How is this so hard to wrap your brain around?"

I think that's the only reasonable conclusion one can reach from the OP's information, straw. Old army's gone to hell. First blacks, then women, and now FETUSES?

There is a 12th Man tag by your TexAgs profile, if there was a Former Students tag you could get more donors. Peer pressure and guilt does wonders. Talking about thingsike this, but not actually donating giveaway you less validity and self righteousness. Definitely get on that, Association.

My issue with this is what about the students who went to fight for out country now and in the future who don't graduate. Will they not have the opportunity to join this group because they did not receive their diploma.

Were you home schooled or something? Just saying you're better than your peers doesn't magically make it true.

Aggies refusing to be called alumni is equivalent to Kyle Field grass being a memorial - there is no historic significance and no reasonable justification for these thoughts, but because someone once told you it was so - you believe it to be so.

Alumni is a general term used in academia to denote someone that has graduated from a school. Are students that have graduated from Texas A&M considered alumni? Hmmm ... yes. Yes, they are.

What is the term that Aggies should raise a stink over? Ex-Aggies? Yes. Yes, that's the one. Once you are an Aggie you are always an Aggie. There is no such thing as an Ex-Aggie.

I believe people accidentally draw a line in the sand in front of Alumni when they intended to draw a line in front of Ex-Aggies.

Yes, we consider ourselves "Former Students" instead of "Ex-Students", but we do that so we don't have to place "Ex" in front of our Aggieness. It's OK to use the word "alumni". That doesn't detract from you being an Aggie. "Alumni" doesn't mean you have to give up any shred of your Aggieness. Rest easy, Ags. You can be an alumnus of Texas A&M. You can even be proud of it.

And if you really want to make your mother proud, you will aspire for one of the greatest honors bestowed upon Texas A&M's Former Students ... that of Distinguished Alumni. *gasp!*

My biggest problem is that one person is not an alumni.
Alumni is the plural of alumnus.
Be an alum or alumnus, but unless you got at least one more around, don't say alumni.

License plate frames and bumper stickers are the worst offenders of this.

In the '60-70's, I learned quickly from older friends that there are no ex-Aggies, no x-students, no alumnus/i, no A&M ex.

There are ONLY former students and "once an Aggie-always an Aggie".

Has this been changed??

I also learned the meaning of "wait until next year".

I have seen alot of lives and careers enriched from the student and the "network" experiences.

Yes, it has changed. This is the 21st Century and graduates of A&M are referred to as alumni. Keep calling it The Association if you like, but don't get upset when people use the term alumni or alumnus.

I am a Former Student with 2 Degrees from Texas A&M.

I do not like the term "Alumni."

This is one of the many traditions that set us apart from the other places.

Please do not take this the wrong way, but I do not think that we should change things just to change things.

If a group wanted to emphasize that they were composed of just graduates, I would rather see them use the term "Graduates" than the word "Alumni."
