Another GREAT place for burgers is Carpenters in Corsicana. MMMMMM! If you want a great burger and are going north on 45, exit the first exit for Corsicana and at the first gas station you come to, it is directly across the road from it.

Another place that has pretty good ones: Country Bakery in Schulenberg.
I live in Fort Worth, and I absolutely love Kincaid's...
But Kincaid's doesn't touch Herd's.
I have also eaten at all the great Dallas burger joints. Hey, don't get me wrong. This state has some great burgers. There are just none better than the Herdburger.

Lankford Grocery is good - IF YOU LIKE GREASE RUNNING DOWN YOUR ARM!! 
Besides, The Chicken, my favorite hamburger joint(in Houston) is CHRISTIAN'S TOTEM!! It's an old "Utotem/Beer Joint" that's located at I-10 and Washington. The patties are fresh/handmade and HUGE(I'm talkin dang near a half pound)!! For $5.41 you get a HUGE burger, fries/o-rings, and a soda(w/ free refills)!! You can't beat it!!

Miller's in Houston is pretty good. Not the BEST, but still damn good IMHO. It's on N. Shepard just past where Durham and Shepard meet up.

There are a lot of Dallas joints here. I am suprised noone mentioned the Burger House across from SMU (the original, not any new ones).
They have the best seasoning salt that they put on the burgers and fries. Although best fries might be a different thread.

Houston: actually it's in clear lake shores (kemah) and it is the South Shore Beer Gardens!! you will catch us quite often in there eating the double meat w/ cheese, japs and mayo, chili cheese fries and sucking down an ice cold shiner bock, playing some bones after we have just loaded up the jukebox with hours of merle, willie and robert earl!!!
