After all my friends got their Aggie rings these past couple days it got me excited about the possibility of me getting one. I've always wanted an antiqued 10k, but the price is turning me away. I can't spend over 1,000 bucks knowing what bills I have now and also graduate school bills looming. I looked and saw the "Polara" option and saw it's way cheaper and did some research. I found out that it's a mixture of metals and some other details. Does anyone know how prevalent they are among other students? Most of the one's I have seen have been gold, but I'm wondering if this "Polara" option is becoming more popular with how expensive gold is becoming.

They're expensive all hell, but it's something you will cherish the rest of your life.

They have ring loans you can take out, and you can pay them back over a period of 12 months.

Do it. I still have $800 to pay before February, but I'll figure it out.

The Polara rings just dont look right. They look really cheaply made. Think chinese knockoff.

Same thing goes with the white gold. Both look cheap and like high school rings.

Apply for a ring scholarship. I paid extra when I got mine for those less fortunate

If you can't afford it now, wait until you have a job and then buy it. It seems stupid to take out a loan for a piece of jewelry, even if it is an aggie ring.

Beg at corners, work nights, sell your childhood baseball cards, hoar yourself to gays. Get that ring!

$1000 for something you will wear forever is worth the money IMO. There is nothing else you'll purchase that you will have with you that long, except maybe your wedding ring.

You may think this is corny but the old dudes with the money recognize a kid and his/her Aggie Ring....don't discount the perks that ring can bring you! And, when some OF asks if that is an Aggie ring rise, extend your hand, look them in the eye and say, Yes, it is and I worked hard to get it, my name is...Whatchamacallit and I'm class of 2012, pleased to meet you.

That's what I was wondering if they looked cheaply made (not just because they are made of a different material).

I'll have to look and see. I still have along time to decide. Gold isn't all that important to me, but I would like the ring to be nicely made. If there's a notable drop in craftsmanship from the gold to not gold, then I don't want that.

And I'm for sure going to get an Aggie Ring! That has never been in question. I'm just wondering what kind.

I lost my ring, I wish I could afford
