I'm going to make some overalls for my son (Mason, initials MSC) for the upcoming football season. I thought everything was painted on, but as I look at googled pictures, it looks like they are maybe printed. My husband (Class of 1999) thinks maybe they are printed on printable fabric? I don't know. I want them to be as authentic as possible. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I can save you the trouble of making overalls. If you want your son to get beat up you're welcome to just drop him off by my tailgate on your way to the game.

idk how yell leaders do it, but the mock yell leaders in t-camp do all theirs hand-painted

you buy A&M fabric (or maroon, or whatever else) and use iron-on transfer paper. Iron fabric onto paper, cut out letters, remove paper, iron on to overalls, seal edges with fabric paint.
Smaller letters/numbers can just be done with fabric paint.

Be creative. I have "leaders in agriculture" cut out of john deere handkerchiefs on the back.

If your son wants to wear Yell Leader coveralls, he needs to earn them...i.e., run for Yell Leader and WIN. It's people like your son who demean the traditions at A&M. Wearing serge as a fish ruins the reasoning behind juniors being Sergebutts...wearing midnights was once a white belt only privilege...not anymore. It won't be long before everyone will be wearing Senior Boots at this rate.

If underclassmen just have to wear coveralls, try making up some white ones like they wore in We've Never Been Licked.

BTW, the design on the back was embroidered...saw a set of them worn by a bud who got them from his dad....pretty cool!

I sewed mine on. Most are as others have said transferred on. I was stressed so that is why I sewed them.

OP - make sure you take lots of pictures. you'll want to capture the exact moment when your son loses all respect for his father since dad has clearly failed to stop you from dressing your child this way.

Your husband needs to surrender his diploma. Josie Hoelscher used to design and paint all of the Yell Leader overalls. She "retired" a number of years ago.

Up to about 2003ish, yeah. Especially since the copied overalls really took off around the late 90s.

Wow. I didn't mean to cause any drama. My son isn't even 1 year old yet. I thought it would be cute to decorate some overalls for him for game days... I also teach at LHS (Home of the Fighting Farmers), and students decorate overalls for game days (school colors are maroon and white), so I thought this would be something he'd get some use out of. I thought they were hand painted too, but when I looked up pictures, it definitely doesn't look like they hand paint them any more...

FYI - Students hand paint overalls at LHS. I think they even have an afternoon before football games start when they get together at the school to do this... I may have to just complete my project then.

i have seen them done in different ways...iron transfer paper, hand paint, etc so...depending on your skill and artistic ability, choose the method that will make it easiest on you
