If so, how long did the ordeal take? I'm debating on just paying the $45 but I think I can win. Any suggestions?

Additional info: ticket is w City of Dallas. I'm sure someone is going to let me know that Houston parking tickets > Dallas parking tickets

Go talk to the parking counselors in Koldus (assuming that's where they still are)

Be nice and polite.

If it is a campus ticket definitely contest it. Ive had my hang tag fall down and I got a ticket for it not being properly displayed. After appealing and telling them how it wasnt intentional they decided to toss out the ticket.

I know several people who got theirs dismissed just because they wrote a letter saying that they were sorry and had no violations on campus. I think one or two of them even promised never to do whatever it was that caused them to receive their tickets ever again.

Might as well try. You have nothing to lose.

I got a parking ticket in Dallas once after having my car parked illegally when I had it valet'd at the meyerson. Ticket was dismissed before I really even had a chance to dispute it though because so many people already had. Good luck

Depends on how much you value your time.

In my experience there is very little that isn't covered under "non-valid excuses" category on the back of the ticket. I've only gotten two tickets and they were both $20. I thought I could win the case but the court date fell after the date I needed something like a transcript which is automatically put on hold when you have an unpaid ticket.

At TAMU: Put in a decent appeal and they almost always knock it down $10. So if you do it within the first two weeks, you can have a $40 ticket down to $20. At least that's how it was a few years ago...

True. In my case, I was able to submit my argument online for review. If it would have been a drawn out process or required me to physically be there to refute the ticket, I would have just paid it.

Parking guys are absolute trash. That's all I gotta say.

Why give me a ticket a 2:30am in an empty lot? The logic defies it.

Every parking ticket I've ever gotten. I've only had to pay one in full and its because I got two at the same time and they dropped one. Two d-bag CSPD cops gave me the same ticket for parking in the grass beside a gravel driveway during an A&M game in less than an hour. They even stacked the two tickets on top of each other. This was of course the year they made it illegal but didn't tell anybody. So I wrote a letter to the court and they dropped one.

I got one for parking next to a hydrant (was a pipe, never seen a hydrant that looked like that before) in Chicago, protested it and never heard another word. I got one in a parking garage in Houston while I was trying to find the parking pass machine. I disputed it and never heard another word.

I got a couple of parking tickets at A&M; disputed them and they cut the fine in half each time.
