I don't think BS was completely trolling .... marathons are defined by distance, and a time to completion is arbitrary and can change by event. A basketball game's duration may vary by league but a stopping time is germane to the definition of the contest.
I gotta laugh at all the butthurt running snobs that don't want to share their precious 26.2 sticker with someone who weighs 2-3x as much as them, eats whatever the hell they want, played video games all day instead of busting ass training, and still finished a marathon. I'd give you a cookie for your efforts, but it might tack on another 5 minutes to a time that nobody cares about.
does anybody know how long it took to run the "original" marathon? serious question, as it would indicate some time element as well as a specific distance.
I'm with Aggie00 on this. The guy didn't "complete a marathon." He went on a really long walk along what used to be a marathon course. If I go to Boston this weekend, and follow the Boston Marathon course, it doesn't mean that I've run the Boston Marathon.
good for him. give that man a sticker. well, actually i could buy 1000 26.2 stickers for like 20 bucks. and then slap them on a whole bunch of fatties' cars.
I could blanket the local Golden Corral and Sirloin Stockade.
did they count every who started in the total? if enough people dropped, he could have been the last across where the finish line was but ahead of the people who dropped out.
I'm pretty sure the last place person on that page, Melissa Fernandez, is actually just a timing error, as her splits show her at 40K in 4:25, but, the second to last person on that page, Janice Ericson, apparently actually pulled a 10:06 time. Admittedly, it's a 67 year old female, but, still...(
