Just got a new car and I have paper plates on it. I got my real plates in the mail but am thinking I may be able to get away with keeping my paper plates til they expire if it means not getting charged on the toll roads.

anyone know the answer to this?

I ran them a bunch in two different new cars and never got a bill. I guess it depends on the plates.

if the camera can read the plate, then yes, it is traceable to you with no problems.

the problem is, some temp plates really blow around in the wind, specifically, the bottom blows upwards if it's not connected, so the temp letters are not visible to the camera.

if your temp plate is secured in a full frame, then yes you will get caught.

I can drive for free on the Denver tollway, because the camera can't read my plates.

looks like I just have to make sure it's not attached at the bottom!

and to all the "you're stealing" people: I can only assume you're being facetious...right?

if you want to be certain, put the temp tag inside your back window. the camera won't see it there.

Why not just remove the temporary before entering said toll tag? Problem solved.

cause then you're driving around in an unregistered vehicle. so you get a $250 ticket, but hey you saved $2.25 on tolls.

I am operating under the premise that no cop sees you on the tollway.

If you're on a motorcycle, just pop a wheelie and ride it out as you go through the booth and it can't see your plate. Seriously.

OR, just have it mounted far enough under your seat.

seems easier to just reach your hand back there and cover it.

It'd be pretty kickass if the camera snapped this picture of you as you went through...
