K I'm chinese-american or taiwanese-american, if that clarification means anything to you. Either way, it gives me license to talk about my theory without seeming racist, k?
The historical scarcity of nutrition in asian countries (particularly china) may have encouraged the natural selection of those whose appetites ensure adequate nutrition. Because of the scarcity in these nations, though, this appetite was kept in check. Now apply this evolutionary trait in America, where this scarcity simply doesn't exist, and you have a tendency to overeat.
Basically, our appetite level evolved to be most appropriate for survival in a more scarce environment.
