I work from home 2 days a week and have to commute by car to San Antonio and Houston a couple of times a month. The rest of the time, I'm visiting locations all over DFW. So my in my "average month I'd say that I drive about 1600 miles (strictly for work). In my car that equates to about $160/month in gas. But it kind of evens out because my employer pays me about $800/month in mileage, which covers the gas, my car payment and insurance and some maintenance with a little bit of "profit".

let me ask this, how far do you live from work.

I mean it seems like most of you live within 10 or 12 miles from your work place.

58 miles round trip @ 17 MPG X 2.40/gal= $8.19/day X 20 days = 163.76/month X 12 months = $1,965.18 per year

truck payment + truck insurance= $375 X .50(for logical purpose its used half the time for work)= $187.5 a month X 12
= $2,250 a year

= $4,215.18 wow it is expensive toget to get to work no wonder I cant save money

My 110 round trip commute sure does suck. $5 per day on tolls too...

Gas gets 22-24mpg luckily I guess you could say.

I'm too lazy to calculate this again/I don't wanna see that dollar figure again.

Once I get caught up on training (I've been at my current job for about 4 weeks now), I'm allowed to work one day a week from home though so that helps........

I'm sure some of you may know of my current situation haha
