My son should be attending next year, and after his acceptance, we will need to try to select a dorm. Do we really have much choice in this? And if so, which have a good (or bad) reputation?

Still recovering from the pain of sitting in Section 147 Saturday afternoon.

Although I don't think new students really have much say in the matter, Northside is where it's at. If the RHA Gods were to smile down upon your family and grant said youngster the privlidge of residing in Hotard Hall, then he of course would be truly blessed.

FHK. FHK is newly-renovated; now that the AC's supposed to work, it's got the best coed atmosphere on campus, and you're centrally located for Sbisa, the MSC/Kyle, and the Chicken (though, of course, no 18-year-old will be going there). The rooms are small, but that's to be expected; it's a dorm.

It depends on what kind of environment you want your son living in. As everyone knows, north side of campus is much more "active". I'm sure having Northgate across the street has nothing to do with that. The south side of campus is a little quieter. Best of luck to your son.

Which dorm locked a goat and two turkeys in the Head Resident's room for a weekend?

Which dorm hung a banner off the top of the water tower using a compound bow and fishing gear?

Which dorm had it's members take the time on a Saturday afternoon to lay down in the quad and spell out F*** OFF for the benefit of the Goodyear Blimp?

Which dorm, during it's double secret probation meeting, had a flasher wearing an exaggerated body suit run through the proceedings while playing incredibly loud pornographic sounds throughout the quad?

Which dorm featured a stripper at it's last official dorm un-talent show (with parents and family present), forcing Central Area Coordinator Debbie Owensby to tackle said stripper, and drag her out of the K of C Hall physically?

I've lived in FHK, Moses, and Walton, and all things considered I would choose Walton if I had it do over again.

Cheapest rent, rooms are smaller, tight knit community whether you like the off-the-wall or quiet stuff. Anyone can find their niche there, as opposed to many other dorms that are so excluded that you hardly meet people.

Your son would definitely enjoy living in Mosher.

(It's also the closest dorm to the alley - Mosher Circle - making your move in-out that much easier)

Walton, bar none.

It has the best community by far. Everyone is tight with everyone. The rent is cheap, and the residents are great. No one is high falluting or stuck up. A lot of the guys that live there are payin their way through college and work hard. We work had and party hardier.
