Does anyone know about retaining walls? I have a property that has a sloped back yard. I want to put a 8 foot retaining wall, backfill it, top soil for future grass placement.

It will be about 80 foot long. Do you know how much it should cost for something like this?

Someone quoted me 20K for this.... it seems alot more than I thought. I need to have it done soon b/c my foundation guy is waiting on this to be done for access.

Go to the Outdoors board and ask.

Chances are you need a permit since it will affect the foundation stability of the structure. I was thinking 10k-15k. That's a lot of wall and a lot of fill. It's not as simple as just stacking some blocks up and pouring dirt behind it.

Depends on where you are and what the jurisdictional regulations are, and 8' wall is pretty substantial...walls are priced per SF and usually anywhere from $25 - $50+ per/SF depending on size and type...hope that helps.

20 K seems expensive. I am doing a retention wall at my house soon and I got a much lower quote, but My wall will only be about 5 foot high and 40 foot long.
