Laynes is a total ripoff.

They just thought if they hid out in little CS they'd never be found out.

history of raising canes:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raising_Cane%27s_Chicken_Fingers

One of the owners is worth 60 million

quote:
Todd Graves is worth approximately $60 million according to his statement in the show "Secret Millionaire." Graves appeared on the show, which features wealthy benefactors living in poverty conditions for one week before revealing their true identities and giving away a minimum of $100,000.

I'm pretty sure that Cane's isn't putting old spooge and rusty water in their sauce though

cane's is gross and expensive and they charge you for sauce.

layne's is good and cheap and they dont charge you for sauce.

layne's used to charge me for extra sauce when i was in college

layne's might charge you for EXTRA sauce, but cane's charges you for ANY sauce. i've never been charged for sauce at layne's.

sauce comes with your meal at layne's and doesn't a cane's.

which i think is a crock.

and i'm pretty sure they tried to charge me for water.

Not on the Wiki page, but I seen to recall reading about Graves working at a chicken finger place in Atlanta and that's where he got the idea for his place.

So is every burger joint a rip off of whoever did it first or is it okay to have a restaurant that serves similar food to somewhere else?

talking about the sauce here...and the fact that canes started around LSU and laynes started in CS and both around the same time and i don't know of any other chicken finger places...what are the chances of having very similar sauce?

The Atlanta place is Zaxby's - they just built one in Keller. Hubby says it's better than Layne's or Canes.

Canes, Zaxbys, and Laynes. All direct descendants of Guthries.

They ALL stole the recipe from Guthries. Michael Layne included.

FYI

Since 1965.

This is where I fell in love with the sauce.

No one stole the sauce from anyone. It's a very similar sauce if you actually know about food. In Louisiana a sauce like this would be used on crawfish. It's all similar with different variations.

Michael Layne stole the sauce recipe from Guthries in Athens Georgia. This is 100% a fact.

HTH.

Fried chicken dipped in funked up ranch dressing?

Yeah, there's obviously genius at work right there.

hmmm... i wouldn't mind selling chicken crap and sucky ranch dressing and making millions doing it
BulldogAg
How long do you want to ignore this user?
If there were Ranch in the sauce, this would be true. But is more like a funked up Thousand Island.
Goose
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Oh, well when you explain it like that...

to me it is neither ranch nor thousand island.

now i know why people don't bring this topic up. sheesh

And I answered your dumb ass question with a simple answer..And I quote:

The other answers were in response to other questions.
