Does it go all the way up?

Can you just get to the top like that. Isn't it blocked off or something?

The elevator only goes to the 12th floor. I believe you have to take the stairs to get to the very top. It's been a long time, since I've gone to the very top and I was with someone who worked there.

Yes, it's an observatory. You've gotta have keys to get up to it.

How does one get these keys? Can I make an appointment? Talk with a security guard? find them in a unlocked drawer somewhere?

its one of the the few places I want to go before i graduate.

Doubt I will ever go to these places

Wonder if AndyMac can get is up there?

What's stopping you from going inside the YMCA? The academic building is one p[lace I'd love to get to the top of. Anyone know how? It's probably much harder than the O&M. Is it even possible to get to the to of the tower? I've never noticed a door or stairs there.

You could probably shimmy up one of those negative columns with no rope.

Y building is no longer used and locked

Albritton there are stairs and TC used to go up there for a tour in the spring

Wow I had no idea the Y wasn't used. Never really thought anything of it. Where are the Academic building stairs?

There is a broken window on the second foor of the YMCA on the Buetal side. You can go inside if you wanted it. There is nothing to see though, it's a dump.

I graduated in 04 and didn't know the y had been closed I had been inside before.

Is it really safe to be telling people how to access the roofs of buildings?

we went up on the roof in my meteorology class... elevator and then stairs to the observatory and then if i remember correctly another stair/stepladder thing to get to the roof. it's been a while

I've been in the observatory. It was awesome to get a view of campus like that. You take an elevator up to the 12th floor and then a small stairwell up to the 13th floor. The one of the secretaries in O&M let us go up there.

Someone told me recently that the door to the Observatory has a keypad lock now.

Spent most of my study nights up there while in school...great view.

you can climb up the outside of the academic building to get on top of the dome. it's been done many times. there used to be a playboy bunny on the dome that someone from Puryear sprayed on. sometime around '99 or so, someone from Hotard climbed up there and put a life-sized paper mache mannequin on top that had been used in Hotard from Hell. it stayed up there for two weeks or so.

I also had some buddies that got on top of the Northside water tower.

so anyone can or at least could go up into the observatory?

You have to get special permission from the Fish Pond Manager.

You don't want to go on the roof of the O&M Building. The leaning of the building is magnified by the height and you have to hold on to a rope to keep from sliding off. Pencils roll off desks on the 10th floor.

The winds of Ike accelerated the leaning. It will probably fall in the next six months.

Some friends and I took the stairs to the very top one time. It wasn't blocked off then nor was the door locked. Just a lot of old weather related stuff up there.
