mint juleps!

1 cup water, 1 cup sugar. Boil til sugar is dissolved. Wrap mint leaves in cheesecloth and steep like tea. Makes a minty syrup that goes wonderfully with SoCo.

We used to have a guy come into the restaurant and drink Southern Comfort Martinis. He wanted the dry vermouth like a martini, not the sweet vermouth, like you would use in a Manhattan, which probably would have worked better.

I never tried it, but it looked nasty.

you could just muddle the mint leaves with the sugar in the bottom of the glass, then add ice and booze, that's the "traditional" way

And I've used shortcuts at bars and used Creme de Menthe with SoCo. Not nearly as good, but suffices.

And I refuse to let anyone grind up any plant leaf in any drink like mojitos. It's disgusting.

Pour a shot of SoCo or Captain Morgans into a shot glass, and set aside. In a clean glass, pour 3 oz of single malt scotch, and add a splash of water if desired. Drink scotch, dump out shot of liquid crap, enjoy.
