I'm thinking that if there's a bug infestation and the apartment refuses to treat that you can probably get out of your lease.

In the beginning they told him they could not. When he told them he was taking them to court, they let him get out of the lease. They did not care that they had a infestation.

I must have deleted the mail...they looked like fatter ant bites, minus the pustule....raised, red not crusted but he just sent individual pictures, not of a patch of several bites together.

He "said" it was bad enough to go to the doctor but not bad enough to go to the ER so he went to KROGER and called from the pill aisle to ask his sister where no itch pills would be found....gotta love college men who think like little boys.

Okay, I think that is his problem from pictures I got on Google....one article said they are the size of poppy seeds...my near vision is almost gone so I would never be able to see them.

It also said they are prevalent in dorms/apartments and bedrooms because of CLUTTER....great Scott that means College Station is DOOMED! What dorm room or college apartment is NOT cluttered.

Okay, I can go destroy his mattress...it will be in his dumpster with BED BUGS written on it....won't that get some looks!!! But it doesn't seem too smart to bring in new bedding if they are in the carpet does it?

How can we go after the room itself? Spray, powder....bugchick do your stuff!

Bed bugs are a beast and a half to get rid of. I had em for a year and it was pretty bad.

I got them from McInnis, carried them home to my room over the summer via my pillow, and brought em to my old apt. I had em until I moved. You gotta replace EVERYTHING.

They get in furniture too if it gets bad, not just the bed, blankets and pillows.

I had a feather pillow that we boiled at home when we discovered i took em from the dorm and they still survived that ish. They are monstrosities.

They arent at our house because it was a small infestation that went away when I left over the school year.

Though I hear they can lay dormant for months to a year. Its NUTS.

Double post

The dorms are a foul place. Check your stuff if you live there. You probably saw the batt article though.

I cleaned it up. You just cannot begin to fathom how annoying it is to have bed bugs for 2 years because your RA refuses to believe that you have bedbugs, carry it home for a summer, then live with them for another year.

you didn't need to clean up anything...I don't like WHAT you are telling me.

I am still holding out for ants and pray his sores are healing, no new ones...you know the denial things moms hope of hopes for

I am going to arrive and he is going to want to do everything else besides check and clean....I will give an ultimatum that he helps NOW or his Dad takes his BB ticket!!!!

If bedbugs are the culprit here, I really, really hope we can get it taken care of before it gets worse. I haven't noticed anything in my bed and haven't had any bites, and hopefully it stays that way! My mattress isn't even 2 years old, so obviously I don't want to have to replace it.

I just talked to my apartment manager- he wasn't too happy at the prospect of bedbugs, and confirmed that Meadow's Point has indeed had bedbugs this semester. He'll be coming over tomorrow to look at the bed.

If he's getting to where he's getting many bites a day, it's at a bad infestation. You need to hit the ground running and replace the bed, pillows and blankets. It's simply not worth it trying to "bug proof" your stuff.

BCS is just one of those places that have more bugs. It takes awhile to get rid of em and it can be done.

If my parents let me get a new bed I would have had it taken care of earlier, but yeah, they were afraid it was the apt.

It's kinda nasty and it really is terrible but you can beat the things. Just takes money and too much patience.

Good luck guys...

Are they not spraying between renters? I don't know how he didn't have any problems before Christmas and now he does. I had patients with lice, body lice, maggots, and all kinds of colorful discharges but no bedbugs. We will see tomorrow!

There is still hope it is ants and he hasn't emailed answering my questions about the spots currently. I have chewed his ears about eating in his room(apparently he inherited a hearing problem)so a good scare might, nevermind I don't think that would stop him either. At least he doesn't do that here.

If you're not getting bites or once you get a new bed, move it away from walls, make sure none of the sheets touch the floor, and put the legs in pots of water if you wanna go really hardcore.

My previous roommate had a groaty ass boyfriend who brought bedbugs into our apartment. I have had a light infestation ever since April.

I've kept it under control by changing the sheets every couple of days, washing them in hot water, and putting diatamacious earth (sp) in the folds of the mattress, box springs and bed frame.

I rarely get bites even though I find a dead bug every other week.

The reality of it is, this being a college town with many international students, the chance of getting bedbugs increases greatly. Many cultures live with bedbugs and are not bothered by them. When they move to the US, much of their luggage is not thoroughly inspected and bedbugs make it into the border.

If you live in rental property wash your sheets very often, don't keep clothes on the floor, and inspect your furniture regularly.

Bed bugs are back. Many of us didn't even know they were real. They'd all but vanished from the United States after the 1950s, when saturating an infected home with DDT was a common (and quite effective) practice. But DDT has been on the no-no list for some time now. That and a steady increase in international travel are the most probable sources for the steady rise in bed-bug infestation, especially in large cities, over the last 10 years or so.

Let see now we could all but get rid of bed bugs and mosquitoes carrying malaria and bird flu. But no we believe some idiot who wrote a book that was not based in scientific fact that DDT was bad.
