Need a new driver. What's your take on the G5 or the Callaway X. Any other recommendations? I am not a big fan of Taylor Made.

I have never hit the Callaway, but I love the G5. I have a driver and a 3 wood and have no intention of replacing them. Best driver I have ever owned.

I have the 460X and I love it.

get either and i'll hit it past you with my R5 Dual.

g5 is a great club, but I would get a deal on a used G2 (hotter club).

I own the G5 and wouldn't trade it for the world.

I own the G5 and love the club. Just go back and look at Golf Digest or Golf Magazine from last year and both will tell you to buy the G5

Titleist 905 or 905-R. Not as long as most drivers, but imho it it looks and feels the best standing over and at impact.

I'll chime in on behalf of the Callaway X. I got one for Christmas last year and love the club. I took one out for a round last September and was consistently knocking it 20 yards past my Titleist 975J with better accuracy. After that round it immediately went on the Christmas list.

I also played a round in August with a G5. I just liked the way the Callaway set up for me more so than the G5. I hit the G5 better than the 975J, but I hit the X better than the G5.

The X is now only $199 new which seems like quite a bargain, but I'm not that familiar with comparative club prices.

Just my $0.02.

I think you will find this is very much a Ford vs. Chevy type debate. Both are fine products and you will just need to find out which one is best for you.

Just so everyone knows, I decided on the Ping Rapture. It hits nice.

I'll second that. I think that cresent moon on the G5 is the best alignment aid on any driver out there. Why did Ping ruin that look with all that cob web stuff on the Rapture?

To answer the original question G5 is the superior driver.
