Terrible call, not even a foul in my very uneducated soccer opinion. He got ball before leg = clean?

It was just a yellow and b/c it was his 2nd they gave him a red. Right? I thought they gave him a yellow earlier?

If it was just his 2nd yellow then I think it was a good call.

It was his second yellow, which of course is a red and a one game suspension.

It was a hard foul. I think a yellow there was a little harsh, however, as it didn't look intentional.

I don't mind the T&T cards. I do think that the Arab-Swede should have been booked several times. Several times, I think he's crossed the line from aggressive play to dirty play.

After seeing the replay, it DID look like he got the ball first.

No foul, period. You're right.

Not all the time it depends on how hard he goes into the person also. It was a yellow card and the right call.

Damn that was a good game i was rooting for T&T.

It looked like when he slide by he lifted his other leg to trip.

I agree it was an extreme call from the Singaporian ref but the number of foul calls do influence the refs opinion.

It was the correct call. Studs up with one leg and the other leg was raised off the ground and took the guy out. When you do that, it doesn't matter if you get the ball or not, you're going to get carded.

On the bandwagon since birth. Raised in the bleachers of Kyle, Olsen, and G. Rollie White

I didn't see the foul. A card is determined by the acronym C.R.U.E.L., which is short for careless (sloppy), reckless (out of control foul), using excessive leverage or force (utilizing much more force than is necessary to accomplish the task). As a referee, if a foul on the field hits two of those categories, then it's a card (normally yellow).

Also, it is a foul if you touch the ball first then your momentum carries into and through the player. Just because you get the ball does not mean no foul will be called. I have addressed that in High School soccer, "But ref, I got the ball first!" I'd reply, "You also got the man, you can't do that."

Let's not forget why cards are issued. Cards are the referee's way of saying "that was out of hand. I'm not tolerating that from anybody so everyone needs to tone it down." Most of the time it works, sometimes it doesn't.
