I didn't see the foul. A card is determined by the acronym C.R.U.E.L., which is short for careless (sloppy), reckless (out of control foul), using excessive leverage or force (utilizing much more force than is necessary to accomplish the task). As a referee, if a foul on the field hits two of those categories, then it's a card (normally yellow).
Also, it is a foul if you touch the ball first then your momentum carries into and through the player. Just because you get the ball does not mean no foul will be called. I have addressed that in High School soccer, "But ref, I got the ball first!" I'd reply, "You also got the man, you can't do that."
