the commercial was pretty good (I'm sure we'll see it 100,000 times in the next two months)

We looked slow and lethargic throughout the game. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Arena had run them hard yesterday or the day before to see what kind of heart he could exude from this team during this game.

Arena said after the game that they had been pushed hard and were a bit tired. "Leg-weary," "over-trained," and "tired" were what he called them.

He said he thought O'Brien played ok. He said Pope, Mastroeni, and Donovan played well. Said Convey brought energy and made some good plays, but also some bad ones.

I thought O'Brien played pretty well, but wasn't in long enough. Agree that Pope and Mastroeni were good, but I wasn't too impressed with Donovan tonight. He was ok, but he's only good when he wants to be. Didn't seem like he felt like really showing tonight. Typical Donovan, but he'll be ready when it matters. I also thought Convey was good and bad. He obviously brings energy and made some obvious good plays, but he also took one or two really weak shots at goal, had the ball taken from him once, and let a ball go out of bounds that he should have trapped.

Arena said Cherundolo should have played the ball out. Cherundolo owned his mistake and said it's not acceptable at this level.

Over all, the performance was not terribly impressive, but I didn't see any major red flags besides the inability to finish an attack, but that has been going on for years.

The play by the US was absolutely pathetic last night, we could not control the ball at all when we had it i.e. the staggering number of times the ball went over the touch line, we could not keep the ball in the attacking third, most of the time we seemed content to play grabass with each other between the goalie and two other defenders at the back for several minutes at a time before making a long pass up the pitch that was either woefully of the mark, or unable to be contolled by a mid

frequently, either I would see 4-5 players in the same place at once trying to control the ball, which they couldn't do. You have to spread out when you play soccer.

Anyway, I left work early to watch that travesty, and was just slightly pissed.

I will say we played good defense throughout the night except for the one goal-scoring play (incredibly boneheaded mistake) reading passes very well and stepping in front.

let me say that I am in no way worried about are chances in the world Cup, it was basically just a practice/warm-up, so I take it for what it is, just a little dissapointed to see us play so poorly
