I think it would be nice to mention that the Aggies had the third best round of the day (4 over I think) and they had 3 players finish in the top 7. Tech on the other hand shot 12 under par as a team today. An unbelievable round considering how difficult the course plays!
The Aggies are having a GREAT year and deserve A LOT of credit! They're ranked 9th in the nation right now. (The girls are 12th) Whoop!

I teed off at 1:30 before the teams finished from the back, played the same setup those guys play. It was crazy how hard and fast the greens were. They were cut so short and every pin was tucked behind a bunker or far side of the greens. The team played great from what I watched. 12 under for Tech is crazy low for how hard the course was.

Guys,
I've never seen Traditions. How is the course? How does it compare to other college courses? Other private courses? I'd like to hear from someone that's played out there.
Thanks.

I don't play golf but I have walked the courses of at least 40 college events. I don't think you can find a course much more difficult. (My daughter calls it a shot makers course) Nothing comes easy. Oklahoma State has a course equally difficult. ut's new course has some hard holes, but doesn't hold a candle to what A&M has. The girls host the NCAA Regionals next month at Traditions. Obviously some of the best teams in the nation will be playing. You should keep up with it on golfstat.com. Actually, if interested, you could keep up with the Big 12 Championship on golfstat.com starting this morning.
Sorry if this was TMI.

Is that you Andy? This is Michael, Pablo's friend. If not sorry. I have been trying to get out and play 9 at in the late afternoons a few times a week. I can tee off at 6 and still get 9 in. Try play once on weekends too.

Traditions is one of the hardest courses around. I have played a few course in TX, its up there among the best. You lose alot of balls there if you do not hit it straight and you need to play very smart. Only certain holes I would hit a driver on, the rest you play smart and play for position. You never have a flat lie in the fairway, many holes require a carry over a creek to reach the green. Greens are crazy with certain pin positions, you have to hit it to certain spots or you will roll away from teh hole. If you miss the green, there are so many swails and bunkers to catch the ball. If you play from the back, you have to be long. I wish they would replace some of the trees that have died, its sad to see how the course changed because of it. I played Bentwater this past week and it was a cake walk compared to Traditions. I love the course, some complain it is too hard, I just think it makes every round more fun.

Our boys played well, but what TT did on Sunday was unbelievable, for any course that is a great team score but for Traditions the way it was playing, I can not imagine a team ever shooting any better, expecially if the wind kicks up.

I totally agree with the difficulty of traditions. My dad bought a home and a house lot out there when it opened up, so I have had the chance to play almost everyday since I'm still in school at A&M right now. I am about a 2 handicap and have played golf since I was 5, but even with all the courses I've played, I would still put Traditions in the top 20 for difficulty. I knew Nicklaus would build a great track at A&M, but never did I think it would be this much fun to play. My home course in Southlake doesn't hold a candle to the difficulty of traditions. I def. credit the course for keeping me on my game all the time.

She did for the past four years. She's the GA for the team this year as she's finishing her degree. She'll be the GA for the next 2 years too as she is getting her Masters. She's not ready to leave Aggieland. It's a great school!

Tell me about it, I graduated in '94 and both my wife and I came back from California because we missed the town and the school so much. Both (school and town)have changed quite a lot but it is still enjoyable.

We are both in grad school and enjoy it. It gives us time to play golf with each other during the semester and during the week.
