Starting with Jamaica, what will our record be before our '06 World Cup opener vs. Czech Republic?

Team/Date

Jamaica 4-11
Morocco 5-23
Venezuela 5-26
Latvia 5-28
Angola 6-5

(I'm not sure if Angola will be a full game, or just a scrimmage (I hope it will be a televised game). The only place I can find anything about it is on the FIFA World Cup website.)

I'm thinking 4-0-1 (3-0-1 if we don't play Angola). Venezuela and Jamaica will be good games, and I have a feeling one might end in a tie.

I'd like to see us comeback from the Germany game (I know it was an undermanned team, but still...), and win out the rest. I think it would do a lot for us going into the Czech Rebublic game on a win streak.

Angola will not be televised and won't even be open to the public. I'll reserve predictions for the May warm-ups until Arena announces the World Cup roster.

As for Jamaica. I say 3-0 USA.

Are all these games played on US soil?

Damn, I was really hoping they'd show the Angola game.

On another note, I have a feeling we won't do as well as we did in 2002. Well probably tie Czech Republic, lose to Italy, and beat Ghana, but not make it out for the round of 16 (Czech Republic will advance on goal differential).

BUT 2010 IS OUR YEAR TO WIN IT ALL. <-- spoken like a true Aggie ("Wait 'til you see us next year!".

All the games, except for Angola, will be on US soil. The Angola game is essentially an overhyped scrimmage.

US 2-1 Jamaica

Aaww man! I'm pumped about this game...

U.S.A vs. JAMAICA

They have never beat us. I think the all time series record is 9-0-7. Jamaica being the 0 part of that stat.

I'd like 3-2, mainly because it takes defense long to gell than offense. And three goals would be pretty nice at this point.

OH DAMN! FAT TONY JUST GOT BEAT BAD!

1-0 Jamaica.

Tony wasn't beat as bad as whoever the last defender was.

Really?

You think Friedel or Howard would have let that through??

i'm not giving Tony a free pass on it...but there was a poor defensive effort before the shot even took place.

No JOB, EJ, or Dempsey? I hope to see some subs in the second half.

Ok, yeah, Johnson is in. But I really didn't need to see Ching again.

I missed the first 30 minutes but caught the rest. I'm sure others will chime in later.

Jamaica got goal about 5 minutes in. USA just got caught napping.

Olsen tied the game after halfway in 1st half. It was on quick restart. We've been using that periodically to good effect. Goal was really soft. Jamaica's goalie was sketchy throughout.

Wolf had a couple of great chances late in half. One was called back for offsides.

Donovan played good throughout. Mastro was playing back effectively. Meola got 100th cap. He played okay, not tested that much. Pope was pretty good.

Second half. Ching and EJ subbed and played well. I don't think Ching has done enough to pass Twellman for final forward spot. EJ had some real nice runs and cuts. He and Donovan working together is electric at times.

Albright was totally robbed twice on headers. Goalie punched laser over crossbar. Later on, Albright perfectly placed one in the corner, but keeper made another brilliant save.

John OBrien came on with 20 minutes or so left. He played alright. He looked healthy, but didn't get that much action. Did take a nasty fall once that scared everybody, but was okay.

Ralston pulled a groin at begining of 2nd half.

Dempsey came in with his hair on fire. He impressed me. Seems to keep getting better.

US dominated the second half and most of game. Just couldn't punch it in.

I missed the first 20 minutes or so but after seeing the replay of the Jamaica goal it looked like two defenders screwed up. One of them was Hejduk and I don't know who the other was.

Of all the defenders, Pope played the best. Albright had some good headers but he got beat like a rented mule on a couple of occasions by Jamaica's right midfielder.

I thought the midfield was mediocre at best. Ralston and Noonan didn't impress me. Donovan had his moments but their seemed to be long spells when I wondered where the hell he was. Your best player can't do that. Dempsey was impressive in the second half and I thought O'Brien did well given the fact that he only had 20 minutes of PT. He had a couple of really nice balls and has vision that no other US mid has. I agree with Donovan when he says that he is our best player when healthy.

Forwards didn't get very good service to be honest. EJ still hasn't found his touch entirely IMO, Ching played pretty well with some nice lay backs but I still don't think he did enough to make Germany, and Twellman and Wolff really didn't get the service they needed.

On a side note, it's great having Glenn Davis calling games for the USMNT. I think he must have mentioned Houston at least 10 times in some form even throwing in a San Jac reference in regards to a Jamaican player that use to play there.
