Mary at a new career high 146 live ranking Salma plays in Wichita next week Carson starts playing again next month Ilinca, Lulu, Tilde, and Vi are all scheduled for ITF tournaments in early June.
Man, when Carson said "thank you for changing my life", it got really dusty in here. Mark is making an impact on these young ladies lives far beyond the tennis court. That's what matters!!
Blah, blah. Girls can go anywhere for "life coaching" and NIL/RS money. Winning matters.

What an absolutely ******ed comment. As if its an either/or anyways. The goal of any coach is to prepare his athletes for a future in their respective career. If they have the talent then for the professional league, if not, for life in the work force. Good coaching will result in impacts both on and off the court just as Coach Weaver has done for many girls that have come through A&M.

The poster I replied to literally said that "making an impact on these young ladies far beyond the tennis court" is "what matters", i.e. all that matters. That logically entails that winning doesn't matter. I was refuting this obviously erroneous claim. Which I would think would be uncontroversial. If our program wasn't winning, but the athletes raved about the coach's non-tennis-related impact on their lives, you people really would have me believe that you'd be happy? GTFO

If all that matters to you is if the ladies win or not, you're gonna be disappointed more often than not.
I can guarantee you the reason the former players come back to see the coaches is not because they won a few matches at A&M.

Maybe you should ask Carson what matters more to her, winning matches or changing her life. In 20 years (likely way fewer in most cases), the things that will matter most to these players is not the matches won but the impact the coaches and teammates had on them that reach far beyond on-court results. I'm sorry you cannot appreciate this but there are way more important things in life than winning or losing tennis matches, and that was Carson's take on it, and the poster you responded to.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.
NCAA 'full replay' version of the Auburn match has been uploaded. Includes several minutes of celebration after the win. Also includes Daria's winning point, something the private version upload has not shown recently.

One of my favorite moments of the entire tournament starts at 56:45.
Down 5-6 in doubles line 1, Lu serving at 40-30. Huge moment. She hits a beautiful first serve. Right on the line. Going to the tiebreak. But wait - Auburn calls it out. They will regret making this call.
Lu is 100% sure it's good. Watch her reactions closely when it's called out and then after the overrule.
Now she's not just motivated, she's angry. They are going to cheat Lucciana Perez?!?
Then watch how she plays the tiebreak. Especially the first few points. The Auburn players are now her target practice. Tone is set. They are on their heels the entire breaker and we cruise.
The moment I saw her react to the confirmed call, I knew we had doubles.
Was just browsing rosters. Looks like Auburn loses 1, 2, and 3 as they are all seniors this year. DJ, Khairutdinova, and Okutoyi. Refaat will be the current highest UTR on their team assuming the previously mentioned 3 have exhausted their eligibility. She and Okutoyi were at 11.21. Actually, Refaat was at 11.23 playing line 4 until Lexington took her out.
It will be interesting to see how Jordan reloads. I'm assuming there will be 3-4 SEC teams battling for the same girls.
Roster browsing made me think, too. Checked out the rosters for Georgia and OU. Lineup from each team's last match, both teams had really good seasons. Makes me wonder yet again who Mark will bring in to go with the five already headed our way - and many months to think about it.
