Men's track sent a team of 5 (4 plus alternate) to Notre Dame today. They will run the DMR at noon on Saturday. If anyone can find a link to stream, please share. The new school record set in 2023 of 9:29 would be ranked second nationally right now. Aggies have a good shot at a top 12 mark to make NCAAs.

Thanks for stealing my thread jk jk I was just gonna discuss the race in the general thread, but you're right; this deserves its own thread as it can be a huge race for us!! I've been trying to find what teams will be competing! But it's going to be a fast DMR! I know Boston is going to host one also!

Thanks taylorswift13. Sorry I jumped the gun. I came here, hoping there would be some discussion about our DMR group. At the very least, the school record should be broken on Saturday.

Now worries! I am crazy excited for this race! I wish it was on ESPN+ I'm curious about the lineup, but with this event it's all about racing! The 1200 really separates itself into 2 groups, the top group who go under 2:55 and closer to 2:50 and the group who runs closer to 3:00. We need a strong 1200, it's usually been Cooper's leg, but we need him for the mile to give us a chance. Not sure who we run here, I'd love Whitmarsh, but I could see Luca Santorum or even Gilbert Rono on this leg. We need someone fearless, which I can see both doing as both have some 800 speed and 4:02 miles! So who's the better racer and tactician. I really hope we send a 45 second leg in the 400! We're dumb if we have someone out there running a 47/48! A 45 second leg combined with a strong 800 leg could put Cawthra in a good position at anchor. We have many guys who can run a 45, and Auhmad or Nortje who can go under 45 on a split! I wish Whitmarsh was his last year self, but we will need at least a 1:47 but not lower than a 1:48.2 in the 800! Whether it's Farquharson or Norris, we need their best 800 of their life! Let's make up ground and go crazy in the 400/800, show everyone those legs matter! Then it's the Cooper show! There will be some guys anchoring who can probably go 3:50, so Cawthra has to play it smart and manage his pace! He can hang up there, but needs to make sure we do and run his heart out.

And that's a throws coach's take on the DMR! I love this race lol

Washington broke the NCAA record this past weekend in 9:14. The splits were

1200 - 2:50.52
400 - 46.86
800 - 1:46.87
1600 - 3:50.1

Now what can we do to get close to that. The 400 we can beat by more than a second. The 800 hopefully we can manage a similar time. Cooper's best in the mile is 3:54, now it will be near impossible to replicate those race conditions, but a subtle running start, having guys to potentially chase down, let's hope for another strong mile, IN COOP WE TRUST! Now the 1200 scares me, I hope we're around the 2:56 range.

Our school record of 9:29.69 with Cawthra, James Smith, Norris, and Eric Casarez had splits of

1200 - 2:53.8
400 - 46.94
800 - 1:49.83
1600 - 3:59.08

I hope we can go

1200 - 2:55
400 - 45.2
800 - 1:47
1600 - 3:55

That will give us around a 9:23. Last year 9:24.22 was the last qualifier for nationals. It might take around a 9:22 to qualify. With the addition of Kenyans and international runners, each year that DMR qualifying time will only get faster and faster, I might even be underplaying it with that time. These were the top 12 times last year.

There will also be two heats in the DMR for us. They usually try to split them up evenly, but hopefully we're with some fast schools

Great analysis and I think your numbers are spot on. From what I've been told, Luca will open with the 1200, Cutler will run the 400, Kimar the 800 and Cooper the mile. Caden is there as alternate. I think the relay will bring out new competitiveness and everyone could have their best performance.

Also, Caden just told me Washington is hosting a DMR this weekend as well. It's definitely DMR WEEKEND and I want to watch them ALL! Thanks for the heads up on Arkansas, at least I can watch that one.

Thanks for the heads up on the lineup! I just remembered that Luca ran the 2:21 1000, so that gives me faith he can run a strong 1200!!! Hopefully Cutler can drop another 45! I am so excited! It's DMR weekend LOL!

North Carolina and Georgetown are two teams to watch in Boston! The other schools competing are Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Princeton, Boston, and UCLA!

Our luck that the live results haven't updated with schools or hear sheets for our race

Just curious about the times listed for these teams. Are those from previous years? Is that even possible? I don't know enough about it but if you look at current leaderboard on tffrs, there's a big time gap between Washington's 9:14 and California's 9:32. I expect to see that closed after this weekend. Praying our guys are in the mix.

Oh I'm pretty sure there coaches just put in whatever time. Boston is known for coaches putting expected times rather than verified results! In their distance heavy races, you'll often see some people seeded in a much more competitive race than they can handle. It's a thing they do and some in the track community laugh about it and want it gone.

Virginia misses the collegiate record but get the world record! Same nationalities (American). Washington's mark was with a group of mixed nationalities.

Oh wow hadn't realized that!!! That's awesome! I just assume nowadays it's hard to get 4 Americans on a DMR or cross country team! Props to them!

False alarm: Virginia has an Irishman on the team.
That's what I get for using the LetsRun thread as my source.

Caden says the flat ND track is "illegal", so no WRs claimed there, just like at Clemson due to 12.5 degree bank.

From the Arkansas and BU DMRs, bubble time is now 9:28.70.

The BU race looked close with lots of lead changes. Wish I could have seen it.

Also, no 800m runners from the Arkansas or BU meets were able to crack into the top 16 today.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I didn't see the Boston times until now… 9:17, 9:17, 9:17, 9:19, and 9:19! We're really gonna have to run the race of our life! We need Luca Santorum to get closer to 2:50, then we really need Zamzow to run like he's anchoring the national 4x4, then we really need an indoor PR from Farquharson and then Cooper to run near his lifetime best!
