Live Results: https://flashresults.com/2025_Meets/Indoor/01-10_McFerrin/index.htm
Location: College Station, Texas
Date: January 10
Time: Field Events - 10am, Running Events - 2pm
TV: SEC Network+
Other Teams Competing: Tennessee, Arizona State, Baylor, North Texas, East Texas A&M

Track and Field is back ladies and gentlemen!!! Tomorrow at the RA Murray Fasken Indoor Track and Field Facility. Our Aggies are back and loaded!

There will be many familiar faces competing this season in the maroon and white. Members of our 4x400 national championship relay: Auhmad Robinson, Jaqualon Scott, Kimar Farquharson, Cutler Zamzow, All Americans such as: Sam Whitmarsh, Sam Hankins, Caden Norris, Victor Kibiego, Jermaisha Arnold, Kennedy Wade, Katelyn Fairchild, Jaydan Wood, Camryn Dickson, Abigail Martin.

The men's side is loaded with returning talent and have a great shot at winning a national title both indoors and outdoors. We did lose of scoring pieces on the women's side and are young on that side and a national championship there would be very difficult, especially with the rosters of Arkansas and Florida and Oregon.

But as Pat Henry does, he reloaded the rosters with talent, both transfers and freshman. The headlining signing was Russian Pole Vaulter, Aleksandr Solovev who comes to Aggieland with a 19'1.5. This is a huge signing and us Aggies better be ready for some high flying in College Station! Coach Henry also added some more firepower to our quarter mile relay pool in excellent transfers Antonie Nortje and Hossam Hattib of UCLA and Georgia. Both could be on the relay and both have PR's of 45.1 and 45.0! Insane! We also added some excellent jumpers, including the Junior College National Champion Khybah Dawson, a USC transfer Gavin Champ, and the number one high school high jumper Jesse Imemba. So the men's side will be loaded and fun to follow!

The women's side added an excellent group of transfers and freshman! The women's side loses National Champions Lamara Distin and Timara Chapman, and national runner up Lianna Davidson to Georgia. As well as All Americans Semira Killebrew and Joniar Thomas. However headlining the new group is another Russian transfer Sofia Iakushina, an excellent multi. Joining her from the international ranks is Oklahoma State transfer Winny Bii, a 45 foot triple jumper. Kenyan Debora Cherono, a 4:17 1500 runner who was supposed to come in August for cross country but joins us now. Henry also added sprinters in Baylor transfer Bria Bullard, Florida transfer and former Texas State Champion Jazmine Montgomery, and UCF 51 second 400 runner Latasha Smith, as well as multi Madison Murray of Vanderbilt. There is also a lot of talented freshman, we met many during cross country in San Juanita Leal and Maddie Peters. But a great high jumper in Milena Chevallier, a hurdler in Yierra Flemings, and 400 runner Tyler Lowe.

As for this upcoming meet. Expect some sparks to fly, but also temper expectations to a relaxed atmosphere and rust busting first meet! Not everyone will compete, and as we've seen in the past; expect athletes running secondary events and expect jumpers to take it easier with short approaches. PR's are always welcomed, just don't expect a flurry of them meet 1.

However, it'll be a fun meet and a great opportunity to meet our 2025 team! The running portion will be contested from 2:00 - 7:00 and it will include a first responders relay, as well a memorial to a 3 x Aggie Olympian, National Champion, and Bowerman Winner Deon Lendore. Lendore was a 3 x Olympian for Trinidad and Tobago, a 4 x NCAA Champion, 12 x All American, and 15 x conference champion. He was a volunteer assistant for Pat Henry and he sadly passed away in an accident after a practice in January of 2022. The 400 races will be now named the Deon Lendore 400 Meter race. His family will be in attendance so if you're in the area, it will be a beautiful moment honoring a great athlete and great Aggie.

And for those new to the sport or who need clarification on how ncaa indoor track works, there are no specific national qualifying meets of that sort. The athletes are seeded in their event based on their best mark of this 2025 season. At any official meet, from here until conference. Athletes have a chance on getting a TOP 16 mark. The top 16 marks in each event will be selected to compete at the national meet. So in the 7 meets, it's vital to get an extremely fast, far, or high mark to get a chance at the top 16. As for relays, only the top 12 schools will advance.

So some athletes may start chasing that mark meet 1, others may slowly work their way into peak form. Either way it's fun to follow and weekly I'll keep you updated on where we stand across all events!

Since our program is the only one in the nation who has yet to post a roster on its own school's track website, here is the uploaded roster on tfrrs.org! The site where we'll also find event rankings!

And of course the same staff that won't give you a roster, will be one of the last to inform us of who's racing and entered to compete. And usually they will add names to the races without the intention of those athletes actually competing, so it's easier to just watch or gets news here!

Obviously subject to change (most likely will) but here's the start list for tomorrow!! Props to them for actually giving it to us more than 12 hours before races begin

https://flashresults.com/2025_Meets/Indoor/01-10_McFerrin/starts.pdf

Nothing out of the ordinary, some athletes will be held out like Sam Whitmarsh, Jaqualon Scott, and Victor Kibiego although he may still be injured! Cautious to see if Cawthra races but he's listed so hopefully that's a good sign he's healthy after missing cross. Auhmad Robinson will be running the 300 as Will Jermaisha Arnold! It will be cool to see how Antonie Nortje looks running the 400 as he will race Kimar Farquharson. Field events look loaded up, although not sure if they'll be taking short approaches like 6 step run ups or go all out! Interesting to see Devantae Mount listed in the long jump! Winny Bii won't be triple jumping. Camryn Dickson and Jasmine Montgomery won't be running the 60 or 200!

The main event of the day may be the Men's Pole Vault. Where AGGIE OLYMPIAN Jacob Wooten will be entered, along with our newest Aggie signee Aleksandr Solovev! Both with PR's over 19 feet! The other unattached athlete has an 18'4 PR! Obviously way too early in the season for those heights but should be a fun competition regardless! That event alone may be worth the price of admission!

Some schools have cancelled due to the weather such as TCU and SFA

Freshman signee Sofia Iakushina will be competing unattached, I know she's coming off an injury so maybe just a precaution as to whether she should red shirt or not

Also making her much awaited and anticipated Aggie debut is Rylee Lydon! She was the top high school heptathlete out of high school 2 years ago but tore her Achilles just before making her collegiate debut! I'm happy and glad to see she's back to competition level and pray for a healthy season for her!! Coming off an injury like that as multi must be tough, so it might take time, but she will still have 4 years of eligibility and she's going to be great for us!

Connor Schulman, Timara Chapman, and Jevon O'Bryant will all be competing unattached!

Can't really blame them though, no reason to drive through ice for 1 meet.
I think the bigger issue is how we handle having an indoor warm up area 2 blocks away Across the railroad tracks...

I don't think Pat Henry's golf cart will do

But yeah, sucks for the athletes to have a meet taken away, warm ups will be difficult for sure! I have an athlete at TCU and their entire team was upset they had to cancel!

If I were AD I'd let people use Reed Arena or even the PEAP building to warm up

ITS MEET DAY! TODAY AGGIE TRACK AND FIELD IS BACK FOR 2025!!!

How long do you want to ignore this user?
First event of the day is the men's weight throw and there's no Aggies in it

However, on the women's side we'll have Carlie Weiser in the weight throw, we haven't had a women weight thrower in a long long time! Not a competitive men's weight thrower since Josh Brown in 2021. Weiser will start things off after the men finish!
